Location: MILTON, FL
Salary: Determined in accordance with current pay procedures.
DESCRIPTION- Supervise, surveil, and maintain a specialized caseload of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community controlees, pre‑trial intervention offenders, offender releases, and other combinations as required.
- Perform duties related to intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer, and electronic monitoring device installer.
- Direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center, monitor a residential treatment facility, and act as the on‑site departmental representative supervising program participants.
- Encourage and foster offender compliance with supervision orders through guidance, goal setting, monitoring of offender behavior, and community supervision.
- Conduct field and office supervision visits via personal contact, collateral/community contacts, surveillance contacts, telephone contacts, and electronic methods to ensure compliance with conditions of supervision and provide assistance to offenders as appropriate.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to public and victim needs, concerns and complaints and take appropriate, prompt action as required.
- Assess and/or assist in assessing and identifying offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives and refer offenders as appropriate.
- Establish and record structured treatment programs, client management classifications, pre‑trial contracts and other programs designed to enhance offender improvement in areas such as education, psychological counseling, social services, health education, vocational training, substance abuse and other areas of need and ensure adherence to these plans.
- Utilize the information management system to develop offender payment plans for all monetary obligations ordered by the sentencing or releasing authority and enforce offender compliance with the payment plan.
- Maintain case records, in both electronic and hard copy, documenting the status of offender background, legal history, treatment and progress under supervision.
- Take digitized photographs of offenders for placement on the web site.
- Conduct pre‑sentence, pre‑trial, post‑sentence, interstate compact, sentencing guidelines and other required investigations on offenders.
- Make recommendations on offenders under supervision or pending disposition to the sentencing or releasing authorities regarding continued supervision, revocation, diversion and incarceration.
- Attend hearings or appear as a witness in any proceedings before a sentencing or releasing authority on behalf of the department.
- Report non‑compliance with the order of supervision to the sentencing or releasing authority and prepare violation and other required reports, forwarding them to the appropriate authority.
- Maintain liaison with the judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, non‑profit service agencies, governmental agencies, other facilities, offices and bureaus of the department and other criminal justice representatives.
- Develop partnerships with local law enforcement to foster public safety.
- Conduct individual and group counseling of an informal and formal nature for offenders as needed.
- Interview offenders to obtain information relating to supervision or investigation.
- Monitor and test offenders for the use of controlled substances and alcohol as directed by the sentencing or releasing authority or as necessary for the protection of the community.
- Develop and maintain contact with resources suitable for placement of offenders in public service assignments as directed by the sentencing or releasing authority.
- Conduct searches and make arrests of offenders under supervision.
- Install and maintain electronic/radio equipment, including global positioning satellite systems, used to monitor offenders and interpret data collected for documenting compliance with supervision conditions.
