Assists the public with questions or problems and directs them to the proper entity or personnel. Specialized clerical and receptionist work following well-established procedures. Essential functions are fundamental job duties. They do not include marginal tasks which are also performed but are incidental to the primary functions. - Answer, respond to, and record incoming incident information; determine validity of complaints and prioritize service requests.
- Prioritize and assign officer responses to service requests; route and dispatch services; prepare statistical reports.
- Explain departmental policies, laws, and ordinances related to animal control, licensing, animal bites and vaccinations to the public; refer callers to other agencies as appropriate.
- Maintain communication logs; monitor activities of field employees and maintain awareness of their location for safety and reports danger concerns to SRSO.
- Assist field staff by researching public information, licenses, warrants, and citations; communicate and share information with other agencies.
- Process records request, citations, warning notices, record checks, tracks subpoenas and complete conviction records; prepare and distribute court documents, dockets, dismissals, and voids on citations; act as a liaison with the County Attorney's Office.
- Receives or creates bite reports for all known instances of potential rabies exposure. Contacts both the victims and the owners and reports to the health department.
- Maintain and update field records from reports; review prior animal records; document complaints and process incident reports; generate letters to owners.
- Participates in trials and hearings upon request.
- Prepares correspondence, maintains records, prepares reports, and perform a variety of other support functions.
- Informs supervisor of any citizens concerns or other issues that may affect Animal Services.
- Input complete and accurate information into the computer for all animal control calls that are to be dispatched to Animal Control Officers.
- Assists front desk as assigned.
- Interacts with the public in an effective and courteous manner.
- Must demonstrate commitment to our mission, vision, values and goals and represent the County in a professional, dignified manner at all times both in actions and appearance.
- May have a role in the County’s disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts, as designated in the County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan; may be required to work before, during and/or after an emergency.
- Must be able to meet minimum attendance standards.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL, VISUAL AND COMMUNICATION
SKILLS:
The physical requirements are that of sedentary work and include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required occasionally. Requires repetitive motion of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Requires fingering to include picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. Required to operate a motor vehicle in the performance of job functions.
Requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures. Transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
