Position: Experience Manager

Overview

The Experience Manager (EM) leads the Ulta Beauty team to deliver top‑line sales growth in retail and services while managing a high‑performing staff of stylists, estheticians, guest coordinators, and store managers. The EM is accountable for the Net Promoter Score (NPS), overall store profitability, and an exceptional guest experience across retail sales, salon services, and boutique operations.

Responsibilities Performance
  • Promote a culture of accountability and drive profitability through operational excellence, sales growth, and expense control.
  • Use store forecasts and payroll budgets for scheduling, communicating needs to the GM, and ensuring productivity and payroll goals are met.
  • Develop strategies to improve underperforming metrics related to services, boutiques, retail sales, loyalty, and audit results, using company programs and tools.
  • Support direct reports in developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Conduct makeup applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to drive sales and guest service experience.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to enhance guest interactions.
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance and hold associates accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.
People
  • Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team, sourcing top talent through multiple channels.
  • Build an engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through effective collaboration and open communication.
  • Create an inclusive environment that encourages growth and engagement of associates.
  • Support all aspects of management and associate development, including training, feedback, coaching, performance reviews, succession planning, and development plans.
  • Ensure direct reports regularly participate in ongoing brand and category training.
  • Establish professional relationships to collaborate on achieving sales and service goals.
  • Model teamwork and guest service excellence alongside leadership, providing direction and sharing best practices.
  • Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to meet Annual Performance Goals (APG) metrics for the store.
Process
  • Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and the Infection Control Policy.
  • Enforce the dress code and use scheduling tools for create, adjust, and monitor schedules.
  • Maintain accurate schedules, reporting, and inventory control, and minimize loss and theft.
  • Execute inventory control processes and complete required theft reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technologies and communicating expectations.
  • Regularly communicate business trends, opportunities, and challenges to field and services leadership.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Cosmetology license and/or cosmetology management license required by state law where applicable.
Experience
  • 2‑3+ years of relevant retail or services management experience.
  • Financial management skills: driving sales, interpreting data, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expenses.
  • Cosmetology management experience with advanced services competency and knowledge of Board of Cosmetology regulations.
  • Retail management experience in inventory control, operational excellence, and merchandising.
  • Leadership experience in hiring, developing, and motivating talent, and driving change.
Skills
  • Proficiency with basic technology (POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and remain flexible.
Special

Position Requirements
  • Work a flexible, full‑time schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attend corporate business meetings and conferences when required.
Working Conditions
  • Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.
  • Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
  • Frequent use of a computer and telephonic devices.
