- The WWTP Trainee at the City of Milton is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant facilities. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in the processes and procedures involved in the treatment of wastewater to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and adjusting treatment processes to ensure optimal performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collect and analyze samples of wastewater and other materials to assess treatment effectiveness and identify any potential issues.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to plant operations, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.
- Support senior staff in troubleshooting and resolving operational problems as they arise.
- Participate in training programs to develop a comprehensive understanding of wastewater treatment processes and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and coordination of activities.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Required
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree or coursework in environmental science, biology, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
- Previous experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with basic laboratory procedures and safety protocols is beneficial.

Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
