Responsibilities

Job Description: V2X is seeking a meticulous and experienced Aircraft Mechanic II (Scheduled Maintenance) to join our team at NAS Whiting Field, supporting the Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS). The Aircraft Mechanic II (Scheduled Maintenance) will be responsible for conducting routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on our fleet of training helicopters, ensuring all aircraft are maintained to the highest standards and are always mission‑ready for training operations.

Basic Function

Summary:

  • All work is performed in accordance with applicable government, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, company directives, and other approved data.
  • Performs repair and replacement of airframe and power plant systems, components, and accessories pertaining to scheduled maintenance requirements.
  • Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Perform corrosion control cleaning and removal as required utilizing precautions in the SDS for materials utilized to complete these tasks.
  • May be required to use hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.
  • Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy Instructions, manufacturer’s manuals, and company instructions.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Perform repairs on scheduled maintenance aircraft as authorized by supervisory personnel.
  • Provides guidance to Mechanic I within the work center or special work group by sharing technical knowledge to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.
  • Assist in ordering tools, parts, and material.
  • Ensure proper operation and use of test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Tool Control Program.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work center and assigned work area.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  • Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
  • Required to perform Collateral Duty Inspector functions.
  • Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual information systems.
  • Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in classification.
  • May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors, and panels to perform the duties of the job classification.
  • Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead.
  • Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of government owned and company owned equipment.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance ground turns; makes repairs and adjustments on the flightline when qualified.
  • Perform other related duties.
Qualifications

Qualification Standard:

  • FAA Airframes & Powerplant License (A or P) preferred or ability to obtain license within two (2) years of employment in this position.
  • Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of documented experience as a practicing aircraft mechanic with two (2) years on the TH‑57 O Bell 206 aircraft.
  • May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors, and panels to perform the duties of the job classification.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions
  • Climbing, standing, stopping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring uncomfortable positions.
  • May require lifting of objects whose weight normally would not exceed 50 pounds.
