Fletchers Towing is hiring an experienced Class A CDL lowboy driver for regional heavy haul across the Southeast. Home terminal is Milton, FL, right off I-10 at Highway 87. This is real heavy haul - oversized and overweight loads, not general freight - and you are home on a regular basis.
Fletchers Towing has spent years building a reputation in the Pensacola area as the company people call when a load is too big, too heavy, or too important to trust to just anyone. We haul construction and industrial equipment for customers who expect the job done right the first time. The drivers who run for us tend to stick around, and that is a big part of why customers keep calling back.
We back that up with competitive pay, real benefits, and equipment that is maintained to do the job safely.
- Run lowboy and RGN trailers on regional heavy haul routes across the Southeast, moving oversized and overweight loads.
- Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment - construction machinery, industrial cargo, and everything in between.
- Plan routes for oversize and overweight loads, working with permits, restrictions, and escorts as needed.
- Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and keep the truck DOT-compliant.
- Keep accurate logs and paperwork in line with FMCSA and HOS rules.
- Communicate clearly with dispatch, customers, and job site crews on timing and site conditions.
- Catch and report mechanical issues early, before they become a breakdown on the shoulder.
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean MVR.
- 3+ years of commercial driving experience.
- 2+ years hauling on a lowboy or RGN - this is a hard requirement, not a preference.
- 2+ years operating or loading heavy equipment.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS rules, and oversize permitting.
- Fully capable of running a manual transmission - this is not the place to learn one.
- Able to work independently on regional routes with minimal supervision.
- Ability to pass a background check and DOT pre-employment drug screen.
- Multi-axle configurations (8+ axles), jeeps, and stingers.
- Experience coordinating with pilot cars and escorts on superloads.
- Additional endorsements (tanker, Haz Mat, doubles/triples).
- Experience pulling permits yourself rather than waiting on the office.
$20.00 - 35.00 per hour, based on experience.
New drivers start with a 90-day probationary training period at $19.00 per hour, then move to their full rate based on experience. Overtime is paid on every hour over 40 - we don’t cap it.
- Health insurance through Trustmark at very reasonable rates, plus optional dental, vision, and secondary policies
- 401(k) with company matching
- Paid time off and paid training
- Detention pay and layover pay
- Performance and yearly bonus opportunities
- Full-time, company driver.
- Regional Southeast - home terminal in Milton, FL, right off I-10 and Hwy 87.
- Dedicated and regional runs; roughly 50% travel.
- Work location: on the road.
