Job OverviewHours: Saturdays – Academic Year, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
FLSA: Exempt
Salary: $1,440 stipend per session (5 Saturdays, 40 hours total or 8 hours a day)
Milton Academy is an independent college-preparatory K–12 school, boarding and day, in grades 9–12, located just outside of Boston. We cultivate in our students a passion for learning and respect for others.
Summary of Position: Milton Academy seeks teachers for The Saturday Course, an enrichment program for public‑school children in grades 4‑8 with strong academic skills. Candidates should have experience teaching subjects they are passionate about.
Subject areas currently needed include, but are not limited to:
- Animals (zoology)
- Archaeology
- Astronomy
- Aviation
- Creative writing
- Journalism
- Sports science
- Speech and debate
A successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse and inclusive community and will possess warmth, compassion, cultural competence, flexibility, and humility. The candidate must work effectively and constructively with teachers, staff, administrators, and parents for the benefit of students and the community. Additional functions may be assigned by supervisors as necessary and may change over time.
SupervisionSupervised by the Saturday Course Director. None exercised.
Education & Experience- Required: Minimum of three years of proven experience in a specific course of study.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer expertise, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies.
- Understanding of confidentiality and related issues.
- Receptive to supervision and professional development.
- Desire to be part of a dynamic educational community.
- Preferred: Experience teaching students in Grades 4‑8.
- Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
