Salary: $29,500 per year. Additionally, Milton Academy will pay 80% of your University of Pennsylvania tuition for the academic year. Campus housing is provided for these roles.

Summaryof Position:
Milton Academy seeks Teaching Fellows with a concentration in Math starting the summer of 2026 to participate in the Independent School Teaching Residency master's program in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. This program enables aspiring and early-career teachers to complete a rewarding and hands‑on two‑year teaching fellowship at Milton Academy while receiving a master’s degree in education.
To support our boarding student population, campus housing will be provided for fellows.
The Penn Fellows will teach a reduced load (two sections of Math in year one, three sections of Math in year two) while they complete their graduate coursework, and will engage with Milton’s residential life community and co‑curricular and/or athletics programs. They will be mentored by an experienced member of the faculty in the Math department and will have a cohort of Penn Fellows in their first and second years with whom they will share and strategize about their successes and challenges.
With an innovative and comprehensive curriculum designed specifically for independent schools’ unique settings, the program features intensive on‑site sessions in combination with collaborative online learning.
Interested candidates must apply online. Accepted candidates will be required to complete an online application to the UPenn Graduate School of Education no later than May 1.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :Teaching and Curriculum
Teach two sections of Math classes in the 2026‑27 academic year and three sections in the 2027‑28 academic year.
Plan, develop, and implement engaging curriculum.
Create a student‑centered learning atmosphere that fosters critical thinking and historical analysis, as well as a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and discussion.
Incorporate multiple modalities and adapt instruction to meet students where they are with skills and content knowledge.
Stay informed about the latest developments in education trends and innovations, and incorporate these into the program work with students.
Learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion in education; incorporate related principles when designing curriculum, teaching, and engaging with students.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop inter‑departmental and cross‑disciplinary projects and initiatives.
Actively support students, providing mentorship and academic guidance.
Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams.
Generate timely and comprehensive comments for each student three times a year, providing a well‑rounded perspective on their academic performance.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress.
CommunityBe a visible, accessible presence around campus.
Contribute to creating a positive community culture that ensures students are heard, seen, valued, and cared for.
Share in the enforcement of our expectations for students.
