Position: Director of Social Achievement in Learning (SAIL)

Director of Social Achievement in Learning (SAIL)

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Neurodiversity Center for Excellence, the Director of Social Achievement in Learning (SAIL) will facilitate program development and growth of the SAIL Program and other Neurodiversity Center programming initiatives.

The Director will develop new programming opportunities to aid ingrowth and retention of programs for neurodivergent students. This position will design and provide institution-wide leadership, faculty training, and student support services focused on communication accessibility, executive function, and social engagement for neurodivergent students.

As the college's primary subject matter expert on neurodiversity, the Director will integrate universal design for learning (UDL) and strengths-based coaching into student support programs and institutional policies. This role requires a strategic leader who can collaborate across departments, advocate for systemic change, and apply clinical expertise in communication and executive function to enhance student success.

Essential Functions
1. Program Oversight & Development
  • Direct all aspects of the SAIL program, including service provision, program planning, and student and family communication.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts to grow the current SAIL program, by refining admissions processes, program communication, and onboarding of students.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for neurodiversity programs and student experiences.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven decision-making.
  • Design and implement new programs to meet recognized student needs on campus (e.g., Commuter SAIL, additional new programming), in partnership with campus stakeholders.
  • Develop campus programming, peer mentorship initiatives, and community-building activities tailored to neurodivergent students.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for students navigating neurodivergent experiences in higher education.
2. Institutional Leadership & Faculty Training
  • Collaborate with leadership and campus stakeholders to shape institutional policies and strategic initiatives that remove systemic barriers for neurodivergent students and advance the college’s strategic plan.
  • Lead cross-campus faculty and staff training on neurodiversity-affirming communication, implementation of UDL-informed teaching strategies, classroom accessibility, and executive function strategies.
  • Partner with Office of Accessibility, the PAL program, Residence Life, student affairs, and counseling to integrate social communication expertise into holistic student support models.
3. External Partnerships & Grants
  • Provide subject matter expertise to build partnerships and secure grants to expand neurodiversity initiatives.
  • Represent the college at conferences and workshops as a thought leader on neurodiversity, accessibility, and inclusive higher education.
  • Develop evidence-based training materials, toolkits, and best practices for use across campus and with corporate partners.
  • Implement new programming for career readiness skills for neurodivergent workers in collaboration with Career & Experiential Learning and corporate partners.
  • Support the Neurodiversity Center’s work with employers, alumni, and professional organizations to create neurodivergent-friendly career pipelines.
4. Additional Functions
  • Perform other duties as requested or directed.
