Product Development Engineer (Design Specialist – Packaging Hot Runner) – Full‑time position, , located in Milton, VT.

Salary range: $125,000–$155,000.

• System‑level design with limited guidance, often in the absence of specific standards.
• Product Architecture and concept development.
• Participate in business case formulation and evaluation.
• Lead development of new injection‑molding tooling following the formal product development process.
• Guide and approve design documents, validation plans, and engineering documentation.
• Apply scientific and engineering principles to design execution.
• Size and select components (e.g., linear motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, belts, seals, hydraulic components) and make material selections.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to team members.
• Create system‑level concept designs, functional block diagrams, CAD layouts, and functional decomposition.
• Lead design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and decision making on product definition and architecture.
• Participate in or lead continuous improvement activities.
• Verify that all process steps of the product development and release process are followed.
• Drive product development by leveraging team collaboration.
• Facilitate risk mitigation activities such as FMEA.
• Ensure product compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Maintain cross‑discipline interaction with Business Development, Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing, Validation/Test.
• Represent Husky technically to customers, suppliers, and technical partners.
• Represent the Innovation and Sustainability department to internal customers, including executive leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

• 10+ years of design experience in a relevant industry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and strong presentation skills.
• Specialized knowledge of products, tools, standards, processes, and technology.
• Expertise in injection‑molding, tooling, or plastics‑processing market.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling (Unigraphics preferred).
• Expertise in calculating design parameters and applying engineering principles.
• Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail in task completion.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Advanced creativity and innovation.
• Strong sense of ownership.
• Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes related to injection‑molding tooling.
• Team‑player with flexibility and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and work autonomously and as part of a cohesive cross‑functional team.
• Experience selecting appropriate materials and sizing components (e.g., linear motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, belts, seals, servo motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components).
• Well‑rounded with hands‑on mechanical ability and passion for interests outside of work.
