As a Mechanic
, you’ll set up and operate a variety of hand tools such as hammers, files, drills, presses, pedestal grinders and belt grinders, low temperature ovens and hand grinders to perform various operations such as blending, grinding, blasting & stripping, chasing threads, deburring, angle checking, cold working metals, masking.
- Conduct sheet metal forming and blending on a variety of turbine engine components utilizing a belt sander, pneumatic tools, pedestal grinders and various hand tools, plus fixturing aids, using the correct blending materials and techniques to restore the correct profile and contour of the turbine engine hot section turbine components per the Engine Manuals.
- Ensure maintenance operations are performed in the appropriate sequence.
- Ensure that all test equipment or tools used to make airworthiness determinations are labeled in accordance with RSQM before use.
- Complete the appropriate paperwork.
- Complete all maintenance or alteration processes in accordance with established standard work processes.
- Support cell personnel with the performance and appropriate documentation of maintenance or alterations performed.
- Confirm quality of work performed through routine in-process checks.
- Track and communicate status of assigned work orders to ensure on-time delivery is met.
- Cover for absent team members to avoid interrupting the flow.
- Perform start-up and shut down activities while keeping the facility clean as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with various hand tools (grinders, sanders, pneumatic tools, etc.) and basic machine tool operation
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with basic inspection tools (calipers, height gauges, etc.)
- Lift up to 25lbs without assistance.
- Able to stand for minimum 50% of time during the blending process.
- Thoroughly familiar with the use of all tooling, equipment, technical data and inspection aids for their overhauling of the hot section turbine components
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
