Associate Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute enterprise and site-level EHS strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems.
  • Establish EHS performance metrics, dashboards, and accountability programs.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, and employee engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on EHS risks, trends, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations/standards (FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, state/local regulations; ISO 14001/45001 principles where applicable).
  • Lead regulatory inspections, manage agency interactions, and respond to findings.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement compliance strategies.
  • Assess EHS implications of manufacturing changes, expansions, and new product introductions.
  • Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and process safety evaluations.
  • Drive corrective/preventive actions from incidents, audits, inspections, and near misses.
  • Conduct root-cause investigations and ensure sustained closure.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, crisis management, and business continuity planning.
  • Manage environmental compliance, permits, reporting, and sustainability initiatives; reduce waste/emissions/water.
  • Ensure hazardous materials and waste streams are properly managed.
  • Integrate EHS into manufacturing; support capital projects/facility expansions via EHS design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Drive continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar); ensure contractor/third-party EHS compliance.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor EHS professionals across one or more sites; support coaching, training, succession, and performance management.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS/Occupational Safety/Environmental Science/Engineering/Industrial Hygiene or related.
  • 10+ years progressive EHS leadership in regulated manufacturing.
  • 5+ years leadership managing EHS programs and personnel.
  • Experience in infant formula, pharmaceutical, food, or nutritional products manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA-regulated manufacturing (GMP), and OSHA/EPA/environmental regulations.
  • Experience leading regulatory inspections and agency interactions.
  • Proven ability to influence all organizational levels and drive culture change.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • CSP or CIH.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with global EHS management systems.
  • Experience supporting infant formula manufacturing under FDA and food safety regulations.
