We are seeking an Interim Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to provide leadership and hands-on support across core accounting functions during a transitional period. This role will oversee daily accounting operations while driving process improvements and strengthening reporting and controls.
This is a highly visible role requiring a strong GAAP foundation, leadership capability, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
Key Responsibilities
+ Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, collections, payroll, invoicing, and cash disbursements
+ Manage and support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
+ Provide interim leadership to a small team (1-2 staff), with oversight of broader accounting functions
+ Partner cross-functionally to resolve customer AR inquiries and support ongoing business operations
+ Approve refunds and write-offs, and initiate wire transfers
+ Compile and analyze financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
+ Support annual financial statement audit and 401(k) audit processes
+ Identify process gaps and implement improvements, particularly within credit and collections
+ Establish and track KPIs to improve cash flow, collections, and operational efficiency
+ Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required; CPA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
Experience overseeing full-cycle accounting operations
Proven ability to drive process improvements and enhance financial controls
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, is a plus
Proficiency in Excel
