As an Accounting Specialist, your primary mission is to support a team of accountants in delivering full-charge accounting services across the US and Canada. You’ll go above and beyond to provide the best customer hospitality, while ensuring our customers receive timely, accurate and insightful information about their business. At Ascend we’re all in the business of providing the best system and best support for our world‑class software.
So, in addition to primary job duties, you’ll be called on and encouraged to help in all areas of our business.
- Import sales, cost of goods sold, deposits and inventory movement entries into accounting software
- Manually enter invoices into accounting software; match and reconcile invoices to receiving activity
- Perform bank, credit card and loan reconciliations each financial period
- Research nominal discrepancies in receiving or banking activity
- Code items to GL accounts but verify accuracy with Accountant as needed
- Provide support to the accounting team and retailers as needed
- A two‑year technical degree or higher or equivalent accounting experience
- Actively seeks training and growth opportunities, both internally and externally
- Proficient understanding of debits and credits and have a working knowledge of accounting principles, including basic understanding of the accounting cycle
- Ability to remain calm and positive in a fast‑paced environment
- Communicates regularly and listens actively with peers and clients
- Ability to plan time off proactively; extended PTO during financial period close may require supervisor approval
