Project Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join a contract assignment based onsite in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, you will provide hands-on accounting support by managing reconciliations, assisting with close activities, and helping maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is comfortable working independently, enjoys digging into discrepancies, and brings strong Excel and general ledger experience.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial records.
• Investigate account discrepancies by reviewing source data, comparing reports, and identifying the cause of variances.
• Prepare and record journal entries to support routine accounting activity and period-end adjustments.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes by organizing schedules, validating balances, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Upload journal vouchers and maintain supporting documentation to keep ledger activity current and audit-ready.
• Use Excel extensively to build reconciliation worksheets, track open items, and prepare financial support files.
• Assist with accounting cleanup efforts, including work tied to ongoing system-related updates and data organization.
• Collaborate with accounting leadership and team members to complete priority reconciliation and close assignments.
• Provide additional accounting assistance as business needs evolve, including possible support for future accounts payable-related work.
