Property Accountant Job Details

Experience: Senior Level

Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Managing all aspects of accounting for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Performing month-end-close procedures, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Managing tenant receivables, including billing, collections, and reporting.
  • Preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for each property, working closely with property managers and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with year-end audit preparation and tax filings.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Providing financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  • Collaborating with various teams to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of our financial reporting.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, especially as they relate to property accounting.
  • Proficiency in month-end-close procedures and tenant receivables management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • A professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA) would be considered an asset.
