Senior Accountant

• Prepare community financial statements and assist with externally reporting company financial results
• Maintain general ledger integrity by applying generally accepted accounting principles to all transactions
• Assist and train less experienced accountants
• Complete and research balance sheet account and bank account reconciliations
• Review cost center and chart of account structures and recommend improvements
• Prepare, verify, and control journal entries to the general ledger
• Evaluate subsidiary journals, correct errors and omissions, and execute monthly closing entries
• Review monthly balance sheet and profit-and-loss statements for accuracy
• Coordinate monthly closing and statement production for timely reporting
• Review, redesign, and enhance online financial statements
• Review and update monthly closing procedures
• Review supporting subsidiary schedules and recommend improvements
• Document accounting processes, policies, and procedures
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to financial, SOX, and other audit requests
• Monitor and track cash outflows and provide management updates
• Interact with field personnel to explain monthly operating activity, investigate variances, provide charge details, and book reclassification entries
• Correspond with third-party financial institutions and regulatory bodies

• Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university
• Three to five years related experience
• No certifications, licenses, or other special requirements
• Extensive knowledge of a distinct skill or function and thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
• Working knowledge of a functional discipline
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

• Ability to interact with co-workers, residents, or vendors

Demonstrates expertise in preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledger integrity, and conducting account reconciliations. Proficient in applying generally accepted accounting principles and enhancing financial reporting processes.
