Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing professional accounting and budgeting activities while maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and internal controls. This position applies knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping procedures, budget processes, and automated accounting systems to support the organization’s financial operations.

• Prepare and maintain accounting records, journal entries, and financial documentation.
• Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring of expenditures.
• Apply internal controls and established accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Process and review financial transactions within automated accounting systems.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
• Prepare routine financial reports and accounting schedules.
• Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting documentation.
• Research and resolve accounting and financial issues.
• Provide support to the accounting team on various financial projects and activities.

• Typically requires at least 1-2 years of experience performing Accountant I-level functions.
• Comprehensive understanding of accounting and budget processes.
• Knowledge of internal controls and bookkeeping procedures.
• Experience working with automated accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
