Responsibilities
  • Verify the accuracy and completion of paperwork submitted for deposit, including counting cash and checks and data entry into People Soft.
  • Process check deposits using Online Electronic Deposit.
  • Consolidate and reconcile deposits received from various university departments for deposit to appropriate financial institutions.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cash in the safe following written guidelines.
  • Maintain security of all cash and checks received for deposit into university accounts.
  • Prepare various reports on a daily and monthly basis using Microsoft Excel and People Soft.
  • Reconcile payments received into the bank from third‑party payment processors.
  • Process student cash reimbursement vouchers and student payments.
  • Prepare cash receipt vouchers and process group postings for student payments as needed.
  • Daily reconciliation of cash drawers in People Soft.
  • Review mail and distribute appropriately.
  • Distribute student and/or employee payroll checks and monitor unclaimed paychecks.
  • Process and balance the Cash Reimbursement Forms on a daily basis, and weekly request funds from the Comptroller to reimburse the Bursar Office.
  • Create ROTC, Military Health Professions, GE Healthcare, and other entity contracts, assign students to said contracts, and track student charges/credits throughout the semester to maintain billing accuracy; request and distribute billings to various entities and post payments when received.
  • Learn third‑party portals related to invoicing and payments.
  • Maintain an understanding of the functions of various university offices and how they relate to the student and the Bursar Office.
  • Process Ameri Corps requests and post the payments when received.
  • Prepare deposits for Physical Therapy, PA Program, Nursing, EMBA, and Graduate School.
  • Lift and move boxes of coin weighing up to 10 pounds per box.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student/parent information, department and university deposit information, and other records.
  • Schedule messengers for deposit pickup, material pickup and delivery on and off campus.
  • Hire, supervise, and train student workers; approve timesheets as needed.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • High school degree.
    • One or more years of cash handling and data entry experience.
    • Customer service and effective interpersonal communication skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Proficiency in desktop computing (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook).
    • Appreciation of and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Understanding and commitment to MU's Vision, Mission, and Values.
    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Associate Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent work experience required;
      Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Strong aptitude for figures with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Knowledge of People Soft helpful.
    • Work experience in a financial institution and/or university preferred.
