PositionOverview
The Chief of Staff is a critical strategic and operational role that supports the CEO and leadership team in driving the mission of Milky Way Tech Hub forward. As a part-time position (10 hours per week), this role is ideal for someone with strong organizational and project management skills who is passionate about social impact and innovation. You’ll help keep the CEO focused on high-leverage activities, streamline communications, manage projects, and track key initiatives across MWTH’s pillars.

- Support the CEO in managing project timelines, deliverables, and high-priority initiatives across the organization.
- Organize end-of-quarter strategy and planning meetings; document decisions, action items, and ownership.
- Track and report on key metrics across programs (e.g., Accelerator performance, Wisconsin Tech Month sponsor ships, program participation).
- Develop and maintain light-touch operating systems (e.g., Airtable, Google Sheets) to track partnerships, grants, sponsor ships, and outreach activity.
- Support business development efforts by helping identify, cultivate, and onboard new corporate members and sponsors.
- Assist with outreach, follow-ups, proposal coordination, and relationship management for prospective corporate partners.
- Coordinate with the CEO to move leads through the partnership pipeline from initial conversation to signed agreement.
- Maintain visibility into the corporate membership pipeline, tracking status, next steps, and close timelines.
Compensation Add-On (Business Development):
- Earn a 5% commission on new corporate members or sponsor ships directly sourced or materially supported by the Chief of Staff from introduction through close.
- Draft and send communications to internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the CEO.
- Prepare agendas and recaps for weekly check-ins, advisory calls, and partnership meetings.
- Maintain an updated list of corporate and community stakeholders and touchpoints.
- Coordinate follow-ups on sponsorship asks, pitch competitions, and event logistics.
- Assist in coordinating logistics and partner communication for events like:
- WI Tech Month & Midwest Tech Week
- Black Tech MKE Dinner
- Help draft one-pagers, partner decks, and light grant support materials.
- 3+ years experience in project coordination, operations, nonprofit, or startup environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Able to prioritize and execute independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Based in or familiar with Milwaukee or the broader Midwest innovation ecosystem.
- Experience in education, tech equity, or community engagement is a plus.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Airtable, Slack, Canva, and similar tools.
- Quarter-end strategy meeting facilitated with documented action steps.
- 3+ new corporate sponsorship prospects identified.
- Clear project tracking systems in place for WTM, accelerator, and grant development.
