The Account Manager serves as the primary relationship manager for employer groups once they become Nationwide clients. While the sales team and wholesalers focus on winning new business, you will focus on retaining existing clients, managing annual renewals, and ensuring brokers and group partners receive excellent ongoing support.
Job SummaryPrimary responsibility is working with brokers to retain small‑business medical groups at time of reissue. Success in this role requires the ability to communicate complex information in a simple, consultative manner while balancing the needs of brokers, clients, and internal business partners.
Responsibilities- Serve as a trusted partner to brokers throughout the year, helping resolve escalated service concerns, maintaining strong relationships, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to evaluate pricing and renewal strategies.
- Address client operational issues and concerns in efforts to retain the client.
- Promote new products and services to gain more business from existing clients and proactively identify new business opportunities.
- Coordinate with product, legal, operations, and sales for assigned clients to facilitate resolution of operational issues, including claims and customer service.
- Refer clients to the appropriate resolution resource.
- Evaluate clients’ business to identify trends.
- Analyze reporting to identify problems and trends.
- Analyze client business issues to identify solutions and align appropriate support resources for resolution, and/or move forward with new initiatives.
- Monitor progress of issues and projects.
- Monitor service levels and assure client commitments are met and/or exceeded.
- Report trends to management that issues are being resolved in a manner that follows business and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred); relevant experience of 3 or more years (preferred).
- Life and Health license required;
Active Life & Health license preferred. Candidates without a current license may be considered and must obtain licensure following hire. Nationwide provides licensing training and testing support. - Proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Effective organization and time‑management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
- Highly competent at multi‑tasking.
- Ability to be flexible with scheduling around business needs and maintain excellent attendance.
- Capable of working independently as well as thriving in a fast‑paced, dynamic, team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
- Leadership skills and competencies may be considered.
