DESCRIPTION:

As a Safety Manager at Lunda Construction, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations. This position reports to the Safety Director and partners closely with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and corporate leadership to minimize risk, prevent incidents, and maintain a safe working environment across construction projects.

  • Lead and administer company safety and health programs for construction and yard operations.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FRA, FMCSA, MSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Stay current on regulatory updates to ensure ongoing organizational compliance.

  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and assist with the implementation of corrective actions.

  • Partner with project leadership to promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in pre-construction meetings. Develop, implement, and monitor project-specific safety plans and procedures.

  • Coordinate and deliver safety orientations, training programs, toolbox talks, and other safety meetings.

  • Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage events. Assist with the development and implementation of corrective actions and preventative measures.

  • Monitor safety performance metrics to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and provide recommendations that support continuous improvement.

  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, logs, certifications, and regulatory documentation.

  • Participate in weekly safety department meetings and regional staff meetings.

  • Manage worker compensation claims and return-to-work programs.

  • Coordinate safety-related communications with subcontractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and insurance representatives.

  • Assist with emergency response planning, crisis management, and site-specific rescue procedures.

  • Assist with industrial hygiene activities, including exposure monitoring, recordkeeping, and implementation of controls to reduce occupational health risks and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Recommend and implement improvements to safety policies, procedures, and training programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety, Environmental Health or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of construction safety management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety compliance, and risk management.
