leading Structural Steel Fabricator in Milwaukee, WI on their search for a Project Manager – Structural Steel & Miscellaneous Metals
.

Role

Summary:

The Project Manager will oversee structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from project handoff through completion, managing scope, estimating, scheduling, procurement, fabrication, erection, project costs, and customer relationships. This position will work closely with estimators, detailers, engineers, fabricators, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the customer's expectations.

The ideal candidate will have experience in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, fabrication, erection, industrial construction, or a related construction environment
, along with strong project management and estimating capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Project Management & Coordination
  • Manage projects from initial handoff through final completion
  • Review project scope, specifications, contract documents, estimated costs, contract values, schedules, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Develop detailed project scopes and identify project requirements, risks, and potential scope gaps
  • Coordinate and lead project kickoff meetings with internal teams and project stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain project schedules, including detailing, engineering, submittals, approvals, procurement, fabrication, trucking, delivery, and installation
  • Coordinate with detailers, engineers, purchasing, fabrication, field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and customers throughout the project
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers regarding project status, upcoming work, schedule changes, and overall satisfaction
  • Assist with job planning, including manpower, equipment, material, safety, and scheduling requirements
  • Prepare and review detailed project estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, travel, subcontractors, permits, and other project costs
  • Review contract language, payment terms, insurance and bonding requirements, schedules, liquidated damages, and subcontractor requirements
  • Work closely with estimators during project handoff to ensure a complete understanding of scope and cost assumptions
  • Assist with project change order pricing and scope changes
  • Review project documents and bid information to ensure all requirements are properly incorporated into the project plan
Fabrication
  • Oversee the fabrication process from engineering and detailing through material procurement and shop production
  • Coordinate with the fabrication team to ensure materials, drawings, labor, and equipment are available according to schedule
  • Maintain a clear understanding of structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication processes and workflows
  • Coordinate with foremen at project startup to establish a clear understanding of project scope, schedule, manpower, materials, and equipment
  • Establish project schedules of values (SOVs) for customer billing
  • Set up projects within ERP and internal project management systems
  • Monitor project costs and forecast final project costs throughout the project lifecycle
