Hourly Pay Range: $11.23 - $16.82

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Guest Services Supervisor, Visitor Services Specialist Lead, and Visitor Services Specialist, the Seasonal Zoo Worker in Admissions and Experiences is responsible for engaging with guests by greeting, assisting with ticket sales, and ensuring a positive experience. Providing an exceptional guest experience is our top priority. This role involves working in a fast‑paced environment, requiring strong computer and communication skills.

Most shifts are spent standing and working outdoors in admissions, parking, and various guest experiences throughout the Zoo.

Job Responsibilities
  • Customer Service – Deliver an outstanding guest experience and promote animal conservation by adhering to standard procedures with kindness and consistency.
  • Cash Handling – Accurately handle ticket sales and process transactions using a Point‑of‑Sale system.
  • Operations – Perform opening, operating, and closing tasks, including cleaning assigned areas, picking up debris, maintaining cleanliness, and inspecting equipment. Familiarity with Admissions and Experiences procedures is required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

NOTE:

This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules, a non‑competitive examination will be held for this position. The non‑competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • 18 years of age or older upon application.
Preferred Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous work experience handling money.
  • Previous customer service work experience.
