Salary & Incentive PayWHEAP Screener/Receptionist compensation starts at $16.03 to $20.04 per hour, depending on experience, and you can earn up to $3,000 in incentive pay during your first year of employment.

- Answer a multi‑line phone system and relay calls appropriately, schedule appointments for program applicants/participants, and provide directions to partner agencies or community resources.
- Update, organize, and translate all program documents and outreach materials, including uploading confidential documents into the system.
- Assess client needs and direct applicants to appropriate services and programs.
- Assist in preparation of staff meetings, outreach events, and other related meetings.
- Sort and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
- Receive visitors and program applicants/participants in a customer‑oriented manner, give program information, and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
- Maintain supplies and inventory; monitor stock levels, place orders, and verify receipt of supplies.
- Assist in coordinating planned activities, workshops, conferences, travel arrangements, and venue arrangements.
- Provide technical assistance, training, and support to new staff as needed.
- Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and perform special projects and related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) supplemented by post‑secondary education or related training in the social services field.
- Minimum six months of customer service or related industry experience with knowledge of corporate office protocol.
- Bilingual Spanish/English (or Rohingya, Burmese, and/or Arabic) preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills—clear, courteous, and pleasant.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to retain and share program facts with visitors and applicants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.
- Reliable transportation, a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, adequate vehicle insurance, and ability to travel within Wisconsin.
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, and bend.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Occasionally drive.
- Exposure to moderate temperature in controlled and uncontrolled environments.
- Noise level typically quiet to moderate.
- Phones, computer systems, web‑based software.
- Fax machine, scanner, copier.
- First‑aid equipment, fire extinguisher.
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check before commencing.
