OverviewThe Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will provide instruction and serve as a mentor to pre‑doctoral students in a range of dental clinic areas. This five‑day per week position involves management of all patient care delivered by students.
ResponsibilitiesThe role encompasses the following:
- Provide appropriate student supervision, training, and support the department’s goals.
- Become familiar with and adopt the preventive and restorative philosophies of operative dentistry and prosthodontics.
- Assist the Comprehensive Patient Management Group (CPMG) Leader to ensure clinical procedures for all disciplines are performed per the Clinic Policy Manual and program policies.
- Provide direct patient care as needed, including cases where students cannot achieve acceptable results or in emergency situations.
- Offer guidance, monitoring, and direct clinical supervision to pre‑doctoral students, promote comprehensive patient care, and serve as a clinical mentor and dentist role model.
- Implement and follow all clinical policies and maintain professionalism in oral health care.
- Report to the Chair of the Department of General Dental Sciences.
- Participate in calibration programs and provide student clinical assessment based upon calibration.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- DMD/DDS degree from a U.S. or Canadian dental school recognized by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or a comparable foreign degree.
- Valid dental license in a state or jurisdiction; eligibility for a regular or faculty license in Wisconsin.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching.
Salary: Commensurate with training and experience.
