Position: Read with a Refugee Child! Help them learn English - Grades k-12, college

About SEA Literacy

SEA Literacy (SEAL) provides year‑round ESL lessons, homework tutoring, and recreational activities to refugee youth from kindergarten through college. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 6‑8 pm and Saturdays mornings from 10 am‑12 pm, and also go on field trips and host special events throughout the year. Children in this program attend by choice; they want to learn English, do better in the classroom, and make new friends.

Volunteering here gives you a chance to see immediate improvement!

SEAL focuses on helping refugee students—who have been in the U.S. from a month to a few years—to become more fluent in English and more connected with peers and society. As a volunteer you will help students read, learn and speak English, play games, work on STEM or art projects, and assist them with their homework. If you have a skill you can teach—kids love chess, knitting, and other subjects—we would love to work with you!
