Job Duties

The Program Manager for the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center plays a key role in designing, executing, and evaluating innovative programs that advance the center's mission. This position oversees strategic program development, internal operations, and policy creation while ensuring equity and accessibility across all initiatives. The Program Manager builds and maintains strong relationships with students, faculty, campus partners, community organizations, and external collaborators, representing the LEC at events and co‑creating impactful programming.

The role includes supervising student interns, guiding cross‑functional teamwork, and managing program budgets and financial processes. Additionally, the Program Manager supports fundraising efforts, engages with donors and sponsors, and leads the development of reports, impact summaries, and data‑driven insights. This is a highly collaborative, strategic, and creative position that helps shape the entrepreneurial and innovative culture at UWM.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Creates functional plans, relationships, and connections that are instrumental in transforming the campus culture, improving access to resources and shepherding innovations and projects toward commercialization
  • Forms and manages networks of people and other resources to support campus leaders with policy and strategy development and to support innovators and entrepreneurs who are being helped and mentored
  • Assists campus leaders and affiliated organizations in the development of strategies that further innovation and commercialization success in their specific segment
  • Provides instruction, coaching, inspiration, and subject matter expertise to faculty, staff, and students on a variety of topics including technology management, value proposition, and business model development, team formation, funding, and governance

The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center (LEC) at the University of Wisconsin‑Milwaukee is a dynamic hub that empowers students, faculty, and staff to nurture ideas, build confidence, and grow as entrepreneurs, innovators, and changemakers. As a cornerstone of both UWM's and Milwaukee's innovation ecosystem, the center delivers multidisciplinary programming that strengthens creativity, design thinking, and real‑world problem‑solving skills. It serves as a resource for emerging ventures, offers experiential learning opportunities, and hosts key programs that help develop a strong regional talent pipelineuwm.edu.

The center's collaborative innovation spaces - including open commons, coworking areas, and maker labs - are intentionally designed to spark creativity and support experimentation, prototyping, and teamwork.

Compensation

$55,000 - $70,000/annually. Salary will be determined by finalist's experience, training, education, and equity‑based factors.

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent
  • At least one year of relevant work experience in academic environment
