PositionDescription
The Rocketship Wisconsin Team is seeking an experienced individual for an Associate Director of Humanities position. An Associate Director of Humanities and MLL has several shared responsibilities, all in service of delivering high quality, rigorous, culturally relevant curriculum and instructional support to students, teachers and leaders within the organization.
The Associate Director of Humanities and MLL works with other Associate Directors and reports to the Director of Schools.
Essential Functions- Design and set direction for Humanities curriculum including units and lessons
- Review and recommend textbooks and other educational materials
- Use student data to supplement and revise curriculum
- Design and roll out curricular materials
- Assess and discuss curriculum standards
- Design and deliver PD and coaching for school leaders and staff on curriculum
- Directly design professional development, support and coach 3-5 schools, with a focus on achieving school‑based goals
- Analyze student data for the 3-5 schools
- Develop procedures for teachers to implement curriculum
- Train teachers and other instructional staff in new content and teaching strategies
- Mentor and coach school leaders in content knowledge and pedagogy
- Plan, organize and conduct professional development
- Observe and evaluate curriculum
- Observe work of teaching staff to evaluate internally created curriculum
- Provide feedback based on individual observations and student performance data
- Consult with external and internal partnerships
- Work Experience
- Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of curriculum development, diversity training, project development/management, primary/secondary education, and/or school administration
- At least 2 years of experience as an Assistant Principal
- Skills
- Expertise in curriculum design and development
- Experience supporting MLL instruction and compliance
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, including organization of work plans, timelines and reports
- Excellent research, writing and editorial skills
- Knowledge, understanding and experience in social studies curriculum
- Knowledge and understanding of anti‑bias education
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments, work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines
- Computer proficiency
- Design and deliver professional development
- Classroom teaching experience preferred
- Education
- MA (preferred in Education or a related field)
