Position Overview

The Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at Marquette University is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position for our on-campus master’s programs in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling beginning August 2026. Candidates must be able to teach graduate-level counseling courses with a focus on clinical mental health or school counseling. The department offers CACREP-accredited master’s degrees, an online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, and an APA-accredited doctoral program in Counseling Psychology.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include developing an independent research program with potential for extramural funding, providing graduate teaching primarily in our CACREP-accredited master’s programs in Clinical Mental Health or School Counseling, mentoring graduate students, advising students, and serving on departmental, college, and university committees.

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

• Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctoral degree in counselor education with a knowledge base in clinical mental health or school counseling (ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation of completing the PhD by August 2026).

• Knowledge of core content and skills for clinical mental health or school counseling.

• Ability to develop and sustain a line of research aligned with counseling.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students and colleagues.

• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high-quality research.

• A research agenda that focuses on marginalized communities and/or cultural diversity.
