Visiting Assistant Professor - Dance (Milwaukee, WI)

Full time, Terminal (Fixed Term) appointment, one year beginning Fall 2026 with possibility of renewal. Employment period:
August 24 2026 – May 23 2027.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Contemporary Ballet and/or Hip Hop/Urban dance practices and graduate courses in dance theory, dance history, and/or dance studies.
  • Choreograph for faculty/guest concerts.
  • Contribute to department, college, and university service including recruitment, outreach, mentorship, and faculty governance.
  • Maintain academic and/or creative research and professional engagement with local, state, and national associations.
  • Make cross‑disciplinary connections in course content.
Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (MFA or PhD in Dance or relevant field) by start of appointment.
  • At least 1 year of teaching in higher education.
  • Experience and evidence of teaching Contemporary Ballet and/or Hip Hop/Urban dance forms.
  • Knowledge and expertise to teach dance theory, history, and/or studies through a 21st‑century lens.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional teaching experience in higher education with Contemporary Ballet and/or Hip Hop/Urban dance forms.
  • Professional portfolio demonstrating recent and ongoing innovations in choreography, scholarship, and/or creative research.
  • Experience teaching and/or applying somatic movement practices.
Compensation

Up to $65,000; final salary determined based on qualifications and experience.
