2 Part‑time vacancies starting in the Fall 2026 semester, in‑person.
Under the supervision of the Dean or designee, the successful candidate will teach classroom, laboratory and clinical courses in the Surgical Technology program to associate degree‑level students. Duties include development and teaching of all program courses, ordering supplies and equipment maintenance, conducting and supervising clinical learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, assisting in curriculum development, helping to formulate departmental policy and procedures, evaluating program effectiveness, developing strategies to enhance student achievement, participating in divisional and departmental activities, developing a program budget and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development, and stay current in the field.
- Professional self‑starter with team‑motivated abilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field is required.
- Must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program which meets the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Preferred
:
Associate’s Degree in applied science.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years full‑time (4,000 hours) of work experience as an Occupational Surgical Technologist.
- In addition, one of the following must be met:
- At least two (2) years of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years.
- Two (2) years of teaching Surgical Technology coursework at the post‑secondary level within the last five (5) years.
- One (1) year of teaching experience is equivalent to two (2) semesters full‑time or four (4) semesters part‑time.
- Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and/or current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) by NBSTSA.
- Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
- Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques.
- Must meet Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards (if applicable).
- Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.
