Position Overview
The International Education Coordinator is responsible for aspects of the University’s international education compliance with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations for non-immigrant students in the F visa classification, serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) and J visa classification, and serving as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO). This position also has shared responsibilities for education abroad advising; coordination, data management, billing, waivers, and training for the international health insurance plan;
coordination of incoming exchange student applications, advising, pre-arrival, in-country, and post-program needs; front desk management, staffing and training; liaising with departments across campus for office needs. Finally, this position ensures that all students, staff, and faculty are given excellent customer service, while supporting all staff members and mentoring student workers.
- Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) advising students, signing government issued I-20s for international travel, on-campus employment, Post-Completion OPT, SEVIS registration, and SEVIS data entry.
- Serves as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) authorized to issue DS-2019 forms for incoming exchange students. Manages application, housing, and pre-arrival arrangements, and provides ongoing support to exchange students during their time at Marquette.
- Advises students for Education Abroad programs, assisting with on-campus and other recruitment events
- Manages the office front desk, which includes front desk training, student worker coverage, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and providing excellent customer service to all who visit the office. Manages office ordering, shipping requests, Facilities and IT requests.
- Coordinates international health insurance for F-1 international students, J-1 exchange students and J-1 visiting scholars and their dependents.
- Hires, schedules, and manages timecard approval for all OIE student workers, including supervision of at least two student workers.
- Processes and tracks international agreements and contracts.
- Oversees international student events and programming.
Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Experience working as a Primary Designated School Official/Designated School Official (PDSO/DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer or Responsible Officer (ARO/RO) in the field of international education.
- Experience in Education Abroad advising.
- Experience with Terra Dotta software.
