Your Role as Advising Specialist – College Access

The College Access Advising Specialist will be responsible for delivering excellent student support in‑person at a College Possible Wisconsin partner high school, ensuring each student and partner interaction receives the highest quality of service. This is a part‑time position requiring 25 hours per week working with juniors and seniors enrolled in College Possible's program. Candidates must be a commutable distance from Stevens Point, WI.

There will also be a requirement to meet in person as a team one time each month in a designated area.

As an Advising Specialist – College Access, You Will:
  • Guide and educate students in support of their academic, personal, and professional development and success.
  • Collaborate with partner institution staff, faculty and administration on student success and persistence.
  • Promote and help develop student engagement, academic success strategies, experiential learning, and other high impact activities to support student persistence.
  • Advocate for students, collaborating and communicating with institution staff, faculty, and administration and College Possible team members.
Primary Responsibilities Direct Student Support – 65%
  • Teach college preparatory classes for 40 or more high school students at local high school campus.
  • Ensure that students consistently receive the highest quality of services, that school partner needs are met, and that each student makes satisfactory progress toward program goals.
  • Provide 1‑on‑1 coaching to students to develop their college plan.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of all students' interests, needs, and backgrounds.
  • Perform follow‑up parent/student phone calls.
  • Lead student recruitment at schools in your portfolio; including but not limited to tasks like leading information sessions, communicating with school staff, facilitating interviews, and welcoming students into the program.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain student and program documents.
  • Provide mid‑year and end‑of‑year progress reports for all students.
  • Coordinate with the College Success Team to provide college transition services to graduating high school seniors.
  • Submit weekly timesheets, periodic reports (i.e., monthly reports, self‑evaluations, and supervisor evaluations), and other service‑related documentation as required.
  • Attend required programmatic and community service events.
Data Management and Reporting – 15%
  • Track and record student progress, using both quantitative and qualitative measures.
  • Enter and maintain current student data in CoPilot, a Salesforce‑based CRM.
