Position Overview
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the General Education Pathway, or designee, the instructor will develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. The position requires teaching courses in person at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings; department and college functions;
course and curriculum development in both traditional and non‑traditional formats.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, recruit and retain students, and market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education al RequirementsMust have at least one of the following:
- Master's degree or higher in Economics specifically, or
- Master's degree or higher in any field with at least 18 graduate‑level coursework credits in economics‑specific coursework.
- Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
- Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including face‑to‑face, blended, and 100% online.
- Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.

- Blackboard Ultra – Experience with Blackboard or other web‑based course‑management systems.
- Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
- Emerging Technologies – Experience with emerging technologies (e.g., social networking applications).
This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the fall semester; approximately mid‑August 2026.
Position TypePart‑time faculty pool position. Assignments are temporary and may vary in hours/days based on course availability and departmental needs each semester.
- Instructional Modality: In‑person (primarily), online, and/or hybrid.
- Teaching Times: Daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes.
The starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part‑time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction, which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 per hour is non‑negotiable.
