Online Teaching, College Lecturer, IT/Computer Science Instructor
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the General Education Pathway, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses across in‑person and online studios. Courses are taught at MATC campuses, other sites, and/or online during day, evening, and/or weekend sessions.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree or higher in Sociology, or
- Master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate‑level coursework credits in Sociology.
- Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
- Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including face‑to‑face, blended, and 100% online.
- Ability to develop and maintain curriculum currency.

- Online Information Management Systems – e.g. Self‑Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters.
- Blackboard Ultra – Experience with Blackboard or other web‑based course‑management systems.
- Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
- Emerging Technologies – Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. social networking applications).
This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the fall semester, approximately mid‑August 2026.
Employment Typeand Compensation
Part‑time faculty pool position. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, and will vary in hours and days depending on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin.
Instructional Modality:
In‑person (primarily), online, and/or hybrid. Teaching Times:
Daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes.
Salary:
The starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part‑time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and preparation time (equivalent to $70 per hour). This starting hourly wage is non‑negotiable.
