Middle School Ela Teacher
Carmen Northwest Campus is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Middle School ELA Teacher who embodies our core values of Empathy, Growth, and Belief. The Middle School ELA Teacher will design engaging, rigorous literacy lessons aligned to Carmen's academic standards and foster a classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and challenged. This role requires using data to inform instruction, differentiating to meet varied learning needs, and building strong relationships with students and families. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, participate in ongoing professional development, and contribute to a positive school culture that prepares students for success in high school, college, career, and life.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree, licensure issued by Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction (or eligibility for such licensure) in ALL subject areas to be taught, successful teaching experience, urban school(s) preferred, knowledge and skills in creating a learning environment that fosters college readiness and high student achievement, ability to serve as an advisor to a small group of students, ability to communicate effectively to achieve assigned duties and goals, knowledge, skills, and ability in effective classroom management, passion for quality education and student achievement, and ability to function in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with a professional approach to challenges.
Essential duties and responsibilities include executing meaningful and engaging learning experiences, holding themselves and their students to high standards for achievement and success academically, behaviorally, and socially, knowing, understanding, and following all WI DPI teacher standards, working with an Instructional Coach to continually improve one's teaching practice in a way that supports raising the achievement levels of traditionally underserved students, applying best practices in teaching and classroom management, committing to a culture which promotes learning, respect, trust, and responsibility, creating trusting relationships with students and their families/guardians, involving parents in the student's overall success, analyzing data with students and the learning community to set individual learning plans as well as overall team goals, incorporating technology into daily teaching, maintaining an openness to feedback from the learning community including taking advice and making corrections in the spirit of continuous improvement, updating Power School with grades and assignments weekly posting test grades within 10 days of the test date, reading and responding to communication (e-mail, phone messages, etc.)
daily, supervising students; ensuring safety at all times, supporting the mission, vision, and values of Carmen Schools of Science and Technology, adhering to the policies and procedures of Carmen High School of Science and Technology, and possessing/maintaining a current Wisconsin Teacher License, Charter License, or One-Year with Stipulations License in all subject areas taught.
