The Violence Prevention Program Assistant will assist with the delivery, planning, and development of programs, trainings, and services related to sexual and relationship violence prevention and education. The Violence Prevention Program Assistant will report to the Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention Coordinator (SRVPC) and work collaboratively with the SRVPC, other SHAW professional staff, and other stakeholders to advance intersectional, evidence-based, and student-centered prevention efforts.
QualificationsRequired
- Actively enrolled in graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
- Comfortable with discussing sexual violence, relationship violence, healthy sexuality, and related topics.
- Able to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, psychology, education, sociology, gender studies, behavioral health sciences, or related field.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Interpersonal skills such as (but not limited to) empathy and communication.
- Creativity skills such as (but not limited to) digital design, storytelling, creative thinking, and content creation.
- Willingness to lead small- to medium-size group discussions.
- Desire to grow and develop professional skills.
- Knowledge of data collection and different survey methods.

This position requires effectively communicating with others in various settings including but not limited to one‑on‑one discussion, small‑group facilitation, and large presentation settings. - Collaboration
:
This position frequently works with other professional and student staff from within SHAW and across campus on programmatic initiatives. - Equity and Inclusion
: SHAW approaches violence prevention with an intersectional lens. The student in this position will develop their understanding of their own and other identities, and how those identities can coincide with varying risk factors for experiencing sexual and/or relationship violence. - Community Engagement
:
This position encourages collaboration and resource sharing with campus and community partners. The student in this position will develop an understanding of the importance of a wraparound approach for providing support and the importance of being a positive member of the communities we belong to.
