Marquette University’s College of Education is hiring a mentor/supervisor for summer reading instructors in the Tragi Wade-Johnson Summer Reading Program.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise structured literacy instruction during the standard program day.
- Observe and provide instructional feedback to supervised instructors.
- Evaluate instructor performance.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate with Marquette faculty about instructor performance.
- Remain current with new trends and developments in literacy.
- Under the direction of the Director of the Hartman Literacy and Learning Center:
Observe, coach, and instruct reading instructors in the summer program. - Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning reading instructor and/or pre‑service educator accountability, attendance, and performance.
- Maintain regular communication with Marquette faculty and administrators about reading instructor and/or pre‑service educator performance.
- Demonstrate a student‑oriented approach to education.
- Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Master’s degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree. - Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree and Reading Teacher License (316).
- At least three years of K‑12 teaching experience.
- Experience in supervision and coaching of teachers.
- Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.
- Recent experience working in diverse, urban schools.
- Extensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter, including current instructional and assessment strategies and techniques.
- Current knowledge of and experience in teacher preparation and/or professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with people, particularly university students, colleagues, administrators, and K‑12 school personnel and students.
- Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree and Reading Teacher License (316).
