Museum Education & Public Programs Coordinator
The City of Chandler Cultural Development Department is currently seeking qualified individuals to join our team as a Museum Education and Public Programs Coordinator. Responsibilities include creating and overseeing inclusive, engaging learning opportunities for children, families, adults, and school groups while ensuring program excellence through staff development and data‑driven evaluation. The position requires a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration.

- Salary: $73,819.00 – $ per year
- Minimum Experience: 3–5 Years in a museum setting
- Minimum Education: BA/BS/Undergraduate
- Required Travel: 0–10%
- Supervise and oversee daily operations by setting goals, managing schedules, evaluating performance, and maintaining staff development.
- Assist the Museum Manager and Senior Program Manager with program development, implementation, and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with other institutions and community partners to enhance programming.
- Research and create written materials and presentations for educational programs and exhibits.
- Oversee, develop curricula, and set learning goals for all public‑facing programs across all facilities.
- Plan and execute educational activities including school group visits, summer camps, workshops, and public programs aligned with museum exhibitions.
- Develop and oversee field‑trip programs with local school district representatives.
- Manage interactive aspects of exhibitions, ensuring alignment with educational objectives.
- Analyze visitor feedback and program effectiveness; report findings to stakeholders and recommend improvements.
- Manage, train, and schedule education staff, educators, docents, and interns, including hiring and performance evaluations.
- Understanding of standard museum operating procedures, including exhibit planning, development, and implementation.
- Experience in providing educational programming for both children and adults; knowledge of City history.
- Marketing strategy and public relations proficiency, including grant application preparation.
- Strong supervisory skills, performance evaluation, and coordination of simultaneous tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in compliance with traffic laws.
- Clear communication skills, both oral and written.
- Positive public image and effective relationships with city employees and the public.
A bachelor’s degree in museum studies, social science, public history, or related field; three (3) years of experience in a museum setting; three (3) years of experience in education and programming within a museum; valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Physical Requirements- Clear speech and hearing and ability to discern verbal instructions.
- Clear vision or ability to read written instructions and prepare documents.
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment and a personal computer.
- Mobility and flexibility to lift up to 20 pounds and work in an office environment.
