Responsibilities- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom or laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in recruiting and retention efforts, and assist in marketing MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- At least a master’s degree or higher in Economics, or a master’s degree or higher in any field with at least 18 graduate‑level economics‑specific coursework credits.
- Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction.
- Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
- Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in face‑to‑face, blended, and 100% online environments.
- Ability to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
- Email – experience with an email system (Gmail, Outlook).
- Telephone – experience with a voicemail system.
- Computer – experience with Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace.
- Online information management systems for student advising, advising, grading, class schedules, and rosters.
- Blackboard Ultra – experience with Blackboard or other web‑based course management systems.
- Technology‑based instruction – experience with SMART symposium, interactive touch‑screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players, and other classroom technology.
- Emerging technologies – experience with social networking applications and related tools.
Starting hourly wage for part‑time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part‑time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction (equivalent to $70 per hour) to cover office hours and prep time. This salary is non‑negotiable.
InterviewSelected candidates will prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and a simulated teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes of the overall interview time, which may be conducted in‑person or virtually.
