Position Summary
The 6th/7th ELA & Social Studies Teacher is responsible for the daily programming for children enrolled in the School program. The role includes implementing and providing developmentally appropriate practices and high quality education according to the standards set forth by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP), and federal guidelines. The Teacher ensures that the needs of children and their families are understood and communicated as the primary SJA liaison.

Principal.
- BS Degree in Education with valid DPI Certification.
- 2+ years experience within early care working in an elementary school setting (preferred).
- Exemplary interpersonal, collaborative, and planning skills.
- Interest and ability to support children and their families.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and office equipment.
- Ability to analyze an issue, identify options, and implement solutions.
- Ability to work cooperatively with people in and outside of the Education Department.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and effectively interact with children, their family members, management, and staff members.
- Ability to respond positively to work direction and guidance from others.
- Ability to work independently, managing multiple demanding tasks under critical time frames.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress, emergency/critical situations, and multiple tasks.
Must have the ability to sit (25%) and walk/stand (75%) throughout the shift. Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 lbs. Must have functional senses/manual dexterity to carry out the job and effectively use office equipment. Must be able to manage stress related to emergency or critical situations and multiple tasks.
Environmental ConditionsWork may involve exposure to infectious or communicable diseases, occasional loud or unpleasant voices from children, and seasonal exposure to high humidity, heat, and cold due to the internal & external environment.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures consistent compliance with all accreditation and DPI standards.
- Plans and executes teaching practices that reflect a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children.
- Makes sure classroom environment complies with DPI guidelines and accreditation standards: cleaned, well‑organized, maintained, and refreshed with appropriate learning centers, displays, and bulletin boards.
- Ensures educational materials and toys are cleaned, sanitized, in good repair, stored, and organized to optimize child safety and use.
- Maintains and refreshes equipment and materials to support learning.
