About This Role
The ideal candidate for this role will develop a cohesive teaching team, orchestrate curriculum coordination, and manage daily classroom operations to ensure a safe and engaging learning environment for children. To achieve this, Teachers need to grasp the complexities of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth, facilitating a classroom that encourages active participation and success. Effective communication with children and adults is crucial for Teachers to address the needs of children, guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns efficiently.
WhatYou'll Do
- Implement a cohesive and engaging educational curriculum by designing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Lead the teaching team by setting a good example and providing guidance and support to foster their success.
- Develop age‑appropriate activities that cater to individual and group needs, promoting social, cognitive, and emotional growth among children.
- Establish regular communication channels with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent‑teacher conferences to keep them informed.
- Maintain compliance with center policies and state regulations at all times.
- Cultivate a healthy classroom environment by upholding high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety, ensuring the well‑being of the children in the center.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers to guarantee that they adhere to planned activities, safety protocols, and hygiene standards.
- Keep accurate and up‑to‑date records, forms, and files for efficient record‑keeping and compliance.
- Establish a personal professional development plan to continuously improve teaching skills and methodologies.
- Must pass a full background check and meet the health screening requirements.
- Must have Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or a related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE.
- A strong understanding of child development is necessary.
- Requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as frequent walking, using hands and fingers, handling objects, tools or controls, talking to and hearing voices at various levels. Also, may require kneeling, bending, squatting, or crawling.
- A specific vision ability is required, including the ability to see up close and at a certain distance, see colors, have peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification is mandatory.
- High energy levels and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) are essential for fostering a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills are required.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional child care experience.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- A degree in early childhood education or a related field of study.
- Experience working with children of various ages and abilities.
- Ability to speak multiple languages or have knowledge of different cultures.
- Previous experience working in a team environment.
