Overview
Position Summary:
The Early Head Start Lead Teacher (EHST) is responsible for the daily programming of children enrolled eph Academy in the Early Head Start program. The EHST provides developmentally appropriate practices and high‑quality early care and education, acting as the primary liaison between the program and families.
- Develop and implement the early childhood program in accordance with local, state, federal guidelines, Wisconsin licensing, Federal Early Head Start Standards, and accreditation standards.
- Adapt curriculum and expectations for children from birth to age three.
- Ensure consistent compliance with program policies and monitor program effectiveness.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, management, and staff members.
- Work cooperatively with other departments, both internal and external.
- Analyze issues, identify options, and implement solutions to support children and families.
- Manage multiple tasks independently under critical time frames.
- BA degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
- Minimum requirement:
Early Childhood Associates Degree, Child Development Associate (CDA), or successful completion of 12 college credits in Infant/Toddler early childhood education. - At least 2 years of experience working in a licensed childcare setting with children from birth to age three.
- Level 12 or higher on the Registry Knowledge of Early Head Start Standards.
- Exemplary interpersonal, collaborative, and planning skills.
- Strong interest and ability to support children and their families.
- Analytical skills, ability to identify options, and implement solutions.
- Capability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively and interact with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Positive response to work direction and guidance, and ability to work independently.
- Personal computers, printers, phone systems, fax machine, photocopier.
- Ability to sit (25%) and walk/stand (75%) routinely throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. periodically.
- Functional senses and manual dexterity to carry out job tasks.
- Effective communication skills and use of office equipment.
- Ability to manage stress in emergency or critical situations and handle multiple tasks.
- Exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to caring for children.
- Occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable child behavior.
- Seasonal exposure to high humidity, heat, and cold due to internal and external environments.
