Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, and implementing programs/activities in relation to the Graduation Plus program for Club members ages 14-24.

Please note that this posting is an Ameri Corps position. Compensation for Ameri Corps positions are non-negotiable and consist of a fixed-amount living allowance and education award which vary based on the term of service.

Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the team, work with and support the enhancement of existing Boys & Girls Clubs Graduation Plus College Access and Success, Life Skills and Career Development programming throughout the Clubs in the Greater Milwaukee Area.
  • Coordinate pre and post assessment for Graduation Plus participants, as well as provide ongoing monitoring of their academic progress.
  • Facilitate and coordinate college access activities including but not limited to assisting students access and complete FASFA applications; edit college entrance essays; access and complete college scholarship applications.
  • Assist with the Graduation Plus evaluation process.
  • Facilitate the integration of scholarship opportunities and the IDA program with new programs and opportunities to maximize the total post-secondary education financial aid packages for participants, including the Stein Scholars program, if applicable.
  • Collaborates with Graduation Plus staff to provide after school tutoring for Graduation Plus and CLC students including assisting youth with the completion of school work.
  • Makes parental contacts when students are absent in tutoring component.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to facilitate student learning.
  • Routinely assess (formally and informally) each cohort of students assigned.
  • Use approved curricula properly and maintain appropriate teacher to student ratio and other program-specific requirements and expectations.
  • Supervise students engaged in quality activities to achieve specific goals and outcomes measurements.
  • Encourage emotional, social and educational growth of individual students
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports as requested.
  • Attend Ameri Corps meetings and events, as requested.
  • Other tasks, as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Some college experience preferred
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Experience working with urban youth
    • Experience in program implementation.
    • Experience directly related to youth and youth programming.

Skills:

  • Enjoy serving youth and young adults.
  • Demonstrated examples of working with youth.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to relate effectively with diverse a population.
  • Good communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Must have a valid WI driver’s license, good driving record, and meets state required automobile insurance minimums.
