The Writing Specialist, EOP is primarily responsible for providing academic support services to approximately 280 low-income, first-generation college or underrepresented minority undergraduates enrolled in the EOP Student Support Services program at Marquette University, with a goal of helping them overcome personal and academic barriers to success in earning a Marquette degree. The position also serves approximately 25 students enrolled in the Ronald
E. McNair Scholars program, assisting students who aspire to the doctorate develop skills to conduct research and compose compelling research papers.
Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- years of experience in a position involving direct service delivery to low-income, first-generation college, disabled, and/or underrepresented minority students.
Bachelor's degree with at least three years of high school and/or college level teaching experience or Masters degree with at least one year of high school or college level teaching experience.
Current knowledge of educational methods and materials
Familiarity with course content and academic expectations of faculty teaching core courses in respective discipline and with educational software and assistive technologies.
Good organizational skills and ability to work both independently and Collaboratively.
