Position Overview:
The High School Math Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instruction in mathematics that cultivates a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and real-world application. The ideal candidate inspires a love for math, prepares students for post-secondary success, and fosters a classroom environment where all learners feel supported and challenged. This role requires strong content knowledge, data-driven instructional practices, and a commitment to equity and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned math lessons across high school courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, or other advanced math electives
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring intervention and those ready for enrichment
  • Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and adjust instruction to ensure academic growth
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture that promotes academic achievement and a growth mindset
  • Integrate real-world applications and technology to make math relevant and accessible
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and progress
  • Communicate consistently with families about student performance and ways to support success
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to plan instruction, analyze data, and improve school-wide academic outcomes
  • Participate actively in professional development and coaching opportunities
  • Contribute to the school’s college- and career-readiness mission by helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required)
  • Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) license or eligibility for licensure in Mathematics for high school (required)
  • Deep knowledge of high school mathematics content and curriculum
  • Experience working in urban or high-needs schools (preferred)
  • Commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy and educational equity
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated success improving math achievement in high school settings
  • Familiarity with integrating technology into math instruction (e.g., Desmos, graphing tools, online assessments)
