Surgical Technology Instructor

1 part-time vacancy starting in the Fall 2026 semester, in-person.

Under the supervision of the Dean or designee, to teach classroom, laboratory and clinical courses in Surgical Technology program to associate degree level students. Related duties include development and teaching of all surgical technology program courses. Duties also include ordering supplies and equipment maintenance, conducting and supervising clinical learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, assisting in the development of curriculum, helping to formulate departmental policy and procedures, evaluating program effectiveness, developing strategies to enhance student achievement, participation in divisional and departmental activities, developing a program budget and other duties as assigned.

This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start in the fall semester. This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin. We are seeking candidates with flexibility to teach assignments to include any combination of the following:

The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable.

Educational Requirements:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or higher in any field is required. Must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program which meets the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Preferred:
Associate's Degree in applied science preferred.

Occupational Requirements:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time (4,000 hours) of work experience as an occupational Surgical Technologist. In addition, one of the following must be met:

• At least two (2) years of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years.
• Two (2) years of teaching Surgical Technology course work at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.

Industry Certification

Required:

Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and/or current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
