This position manages full project execution—including Cap Ex justification, vendor sourcing, installation, startup, and turnover—while partnering closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure safe, reliable operations.

As the Plant Engineer you will:
  • Lead engineering and maintenance-related projects including equipment upgrades, automation support, infrastructure improvements, layout changes, safety improvements, and reliability enhancements.
  • Develop scopes, timelines, risk assessments, and implementation plans; coordinate contractors and cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare Cap Ex requests including ROI/payback analysis.
  • Plan and execute equipment installation, commissioning, and validation; ensure safe startup and complete documentation.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for equipment and system issues.
  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives and reduce repeat failures.
  • Support Maintenance in PM optimization and spare parts planning.
  • Drive 5S improvements using visual controls, standardization, and lean principles.
  • Improve workplace organization through point-of-use storage, shadow boards, and documented standards.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate results to plant leadership.
Performance Measures / KPIs
  • Adherence to project scope, timeline, cost, and safety
  • Labor savings through automation and technology improvements
  • Reduction in downtime and elimination of repeat failures
  • Sustained 5S audit performance
Job Skills
  • Proven ability to independently manage engineering projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to build Cap Ex packages and project reports.
  • Effective communication and ability to influence without authority.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (IQMS preferred).
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and structured problem solving.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001; exposure to IATF 16949 / ISO 13485 preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related).
  • Technical degree required (Associate/Technical Diploma).
  • 3–7+ years of experience in equipment, maintenance, or plant engineering projects.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, sensors, conveyors, vision systems, marking, and auxiliary equipment.
  • This position is based onsite at the Milwaukee (Parkland) plastics manufacturing plant.
