Summary

As a Professional Land Surveyor at Kapur and Associates, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in accurately measuring, inspecting, updating, and documenting various types of surveys using specialized surveying instruments. You will be responsible for determining precise locations for roads, bridges, buildings, and establishing proper depths for building foundations. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our construction and design projects by ensuring accurate measurements and compliance with project requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate work control lines and elevations necessary for precise material installation.
  • Conduct checks of as‑built conditions using advanced surveying techniques.
  • Perform topographic and cross‑section surveys to support project planning and payment calculations.
  • Calculate quantities as required for project documentation.
  • Prepare thorough documentation of surveying activities for record‑keeping and reporting.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Coordinate surveying activities to align with construction project requirements.
  • Utilize a variety of surveying equipment and techniques effectively.
  • Compile notes, sketches, and data records obtained during surveying tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of various calculation methods, including leveling, traversing, stadia, topographic surveys, mapping, construction surveys, and volume determination.
  • Perform layout work, verify as‑built conditions, and stake out clearing boundaries and reference points on‑site.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perceive differences in line size, shape, and object form.
  • Create digital maps and comprehensive reports to communicate survey findings effectively.
Qualifications / Education
  • 5+ years of surveying experience in construction or design environments.
  • Two (2) years of Crew Chief experience or associate’s degree in surveying.
  • Experience with INDOT projects a plus.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of survey equipment and instruments.
  • Proficiency in Trimble software, specifically Trimble Access.
  • Knowledge with GPS, Robot Total Station, and data collections for land title surveys, construction layout, and topography.
  • UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) license, while not mandatory, would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, while not essential, would be a valuable asset.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements and documentation.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills to address unexpected challenges.
  • Collaborative team player who communicates and coordinates effectively.
  • Adherence to precise accuracy standards and limits.
  • Skillful in planning work tasks and selecting appropriate tools.
  • Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Valid driver’s license.
